Download the video and use the Gallery already on your phone.

  1. Save the MP4 to Gallery. Open it → More → Set as wallpaper.
  2. Or open Settings → Wallpaper and style → Change wallpapers → Gallery and choose the video.

No installation

  2. Choose Full-screen view. Exit full screen to keep browsing.

This plays in your browser without changing your desktop wallpaper. Playback pauses when you leave the tab or scroll away.

iPhone

Motion requires a Live Photo

iOS 17 and later can animate a compatible Live Photo when the Lock Screen wakes. An MP4 cannot be set directly.

  1. Open a wallpaper, choose iPhone under Make it yours, adjust the framing, and download a 2-second clip.
  2. Save to Photos → intoLive’s Live Wallpaper mode → export Live Photo → Photos → Share → Use as Wallpaper.

The download is still an MP4 and needs conversion on your phone. iOS may reject some clips; a fitted still JPG is also available without conversion.

Other Android phones

Check your built-in Gallery first

Some manufacturers include a video wallpaper option. Availability depends on your phone.

  1. Download a portrait MP4 and look for Set as wallpaper in Gallery.
  2. If absent, open the free Wallpaper Engine Android app → Add → Import file → select your MP4 → confirm the system preview.

Importing a local video does not require the PC version. Your phone determines Home Screen, Lock Screen and dual-screen support.

Windows

Desktop playback needs a player

Windows background settings offer pictures, slideshows, solid colors and Spotlight, without ordinary MP4 looping.

  1. Download the MP4, or use the browser full-screen view.
  2. To play it behind desktop icons, import the MP4 into a video wallpaper player.
Lively Wallpaper

Lively is an optional third-party player. Downloads and browser previews work without it.

macOS

Custom video desktops need an app

Apple’s built-in dynamic and aerial wallpapers do not provide arbitrary MP4 import for a looping desktop.

  1. Download your video, or play it full screen on this website.
  2. For continuous desktop playback, use a wallpaper app that supports local video.
